Biography
He
was born in Valmorea (Como, Italy) on 13th July 1927 and he first dealt
with sacred fittings running some laboratories. In 1959 he presented his
works at International Biennale of Sacred Art in Novara where he was
awarded. In that period he began his activity as a sculptor decorating the
altar in the church of Bulgarograsso (Como). In
1962 he was charged with the execution of an altar-piece (40 square metres)
in the Azione Cattolica Chapel in Lugano (Switzerland).
In 1966 the architect Kosak, president of the Wien Academy of Fine
Arts, wanted him to realize the big Via Crucis for the Kirche
zum Guten Hirthen in Wien. From 1973 to 1976 he designed and realized the
presbyteries and altars in the churches of Pianello Lario and Argegno
(Como) and of Vacallo (Switzerland). He also placed his first “Organic
structure” sculptures and he made the medal for the 500 Anniversary
of “Giornale del Popolo”, one of the main Switzerland newspapers.
Since 1977 he has placed several works among which we can mention
“Organic mutation” in San Gottardo Palace (Chiasso, Switzerland), the
altar in the Church of Bormio (Sondrio), “Elevation” in the City Hall
Square in Mozzate (Como), the “Via Crucis” and the “Jesus Baptism”
in the Church of S.Cassiano in Valchiavenna (Sondrio), the Bishop
Leber’s bust for the “Giornale del Popolo” newspaper (Lugano,
Switzerland), the altars in the Churches of Moltrasio (Como) and Sondalo
(Sondrio), the “Protected City” in Mozzate (Como), “The Fishing”
in the Kirche zum Guten Hirthen in Wien, “The Accumulation” in the
City Hall of Olgiate Comasco (Como) and the main doors of the Church of
Pianello Lario (Como). He
was awarded in several national competitions and he was invitated to take
part to the Sacred Art Exhibitions in S.Simpliciano, Milan. In 2000 and
2001 three Personal exhibitions took place: “Sculptures in the
Historical Centre” organized by the Culture Department of Bormio
(Sondrio), “Gianluigi Giudici” in S.Pietro in Atrio, Culture
Department, Como, and “Gianluigi Giudici” at Tocchetti Auction House
in Lugano. |
